Potential breakthrough in murder probe as gardaí arrest man in his 30s

Finnegan disappeared from his home in Dublin in August and his body was discovered four weeks later.

A MAN IN his 30s was arrested this afternoon in relation to the murder of Philip Finnegan, whose body was discovered in a Kildare wood in September of this year.

Gardaí said that at around 1pm today, they apprehended the man who is now being questioned at Leixlip garda station.

Finnegan was reported missing from his home at Mary Aikenhead House on 10 August.
Four weeks later, his body was discovered in the Rahan woods area near the Kildare/Offaly border.

Criminality

It was suspected after he went missing that he had been abducted.

It is believed that his death may be connected to a drug dealing dispute, with sources describing him as a “low level criminal”.

While an arrest has been made, the investigation is still ongoing.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Kilmainham garda station 01-666 9700 , the garda confidential line 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
